Navasota Youth Fishing Rodeo to Be Held on Saturday, May 3, 2008
Children ages 16 years and younger are invited to participate in the Navasota Youth Fishing Rodeo from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2008.  This free event will be held at Patout Pond Park located on Hwy 6 North at the entrance of Dove Crossing subdivision.  Registration will begin at 8:00 a.m. and goodie bags and t-shirts will be sponsored by Navasota Noon Lions Club, and door prizes will also be availables.  Prizes for the Biggest Fish, Smallest Fish, and Most Fish will be awarded at the events conclusion.
Children participating in the Youth Fishing Rodeo will also have the opportunity to participate in the Texas Parks and Wildlife Junior Master Angler Program taught by certified angler instructors.  As part of the program, children will learn knot tying, casting, fish identification, fishing ethics, safety, and habitat protection.  Children are encouraged to bring their fishing pole, tackle, and plenty of sunscreen.  Fishing poles will also be available for use at the event.
The title sponsor for the Navasota Youth Fishing Rodeo is the Navasota Noon Lions Club.  Additional sponsorship is provided by Navasota Wal-Mart, Coufal-Prater, Mid-South Synergy, City of Navasota, Texas Parks and Wildlife, Keep Texas Beautiful, and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.  For more information, please contact Sarah Korpita at 936-825-2241.
