Coming soon! New and Improved City of Navasota website!

The City of Navasota has recently teamed up with CivicPlus, a completely custom, citizen-centered website development company with experience working with over 350 communities around the nation.  The project kicked off on October 15, 2008 and has an expected completion “go-live” date of April 24, 2009.
Kourtney Gruner, Director of Tourism and Website Project Director stated, “We are excited to work with CivicPlus on our new website development.  Upon completion this unique website will show the commitment the city council, city administration and staff  have towards improving communication between government and the citizens of Navasota.  In addition, this website will serve as the new first impression for visitors, tourists and businesses the city is working hard to attract. The new additions of this site will strengthen the bond the city has with citizens and is certain to inspire new, positive impressions about the area.”
In addition to the clean and concise look the new website will bring to Navasota, the city will also provide new features that will enhance the user’s experience.  The new site is slated to contain an Event Calendar, News and Announcements portion and Frequently Asked Questions section on the main navigation screen.  This will allow residents and visitors easy access to the most accurate information about city announcements, city services and events.
The site will also house Navasota’s first comprehensive Photo Gallery, overflowing with photos taken at past defining moments in Navasota’s history and also recent events like the Lion’s Classic Car Show, Navasota Blues Fest and Keep Navasota Beautiful Events. This feature is said to “…excite citizens and encourage them to share photos of why they enjoy Navasota.  Anyone who has photos they would like to share on the photo gallery can contact me and I will facilitate getting the photos for inclusion into the photo gallery.  We are looking for any and every photo which depicts what makes Navasota so special including athletic events, charity functions and family fun events,” according to Mrs. Gruner.
Another feature the new site will bring is an archive and document center, which will focus on bringing citizens the latest official meeting agendas as well as giving quick access to all ordinances, permit and fine and fee schedule information at the click of a mouse.  The thought here is to minimize the leg work necessary for citizens to view city ordinances and allow for in-home viewing of these important documents, without citizens having to go to municipal buildings to attain them.  To keep citizens connected with their government, the site will also offer Notify Me e-mail notification system, as well as RSS feeds. The Notify Me system allows citizens to subscribe to any number of e-mail lists and then automatically be notified of updates in their chosen categories.
