CITY OF NAVASOTA’S VISIONARIES IN PRESERVATION ORGANIZATION TO START WORKING

City of Navasota, Texas –– The City of Navasota’s Visionaries in Preservation organization (VIP) will meet for the first time on February 3, 2009 at The Navasota Center , located at 101 Stadium Drive. VIP is the community-planning program of the Texas Historical Commission. VIP asks residents how they want their community to look and feel and provides the necessary tools to help the City of Navasota retain its identity and sense of place as it changes and grows.
The City of Navasota’s VIP program will meet once a month for eight months, starting in February and ending in September. At the end of the program, the City of Navasota will have a preservation action plan that will make historic buildings and other assets fundamental parts of continued economic and cultural growth.
The first VIP meeting is Preservation 101. THC staff will provide an overview of historic preservation and the tools of the trade. Community members will be able to ask questions and have any concerns directly addressed.
