City of Bryan Hosts 10th Annual Industrial User Awards Ceremony
Local Companies Honored for Participation in Environmentally Friendly Program
WHAT: On Friday, May 2, the City of Bryan will host an awards ceremony for local industries that participate in a city-implemented pretreatment program.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) requires entities with wastewater treatment capabilities of over ten million gallons per day to design and implement a program to protect the integrity of its Wastewater Works, personnel, public and environment.
WHO: The program works to ensure that the wastewater that is discharged from qualifying industries meets federal and state wastewater quality. In Bryan, there were 15 industries in 2007 that qualified for the program as Significant Industrial Users (SIUs) to the City’s Wastewater Works.
These industries hold a permit with the City of Bryan and participate in quarterly, semi-annual, and annual sampling of their wastewater, perform important self-reporting requirements and are regularly inspected by city staff.
The City will issue awards for “No Permit Violations,” which are given to industries having complied with their permit so as to be credited with receiving no discharge or administrative violations.
The following industries have also demonstrated exemplary compliance and a continued commitment to make Bryan a safe place to live:
