Zoning Board of Adjustment Press Statement
On Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at 5:30 p.m. in the City of Bryan Council Chambers (300 South Texas Avenue) the City of Bryan Zoning Board of Adjustment will hear an appeal from Brazos Novelties doing business as Cindie’s in Bryan. The appeal is the result of the City determining that Cindie’s is an adult entertainment establishment, which violates the zoning regulations for this area. The property is zoned Retail District (C-2).
In an effort to preserve and enhance the quality of life for Bryan residents and to aggressively address the City Council’s Areas of Emphasis (which includes “Image”), the City notified Cindie’s on March 11, 2008, to cease the operation of an adult bookstore located at 3700 South Texas Avenue, Suite 800. Brazos Novelties, through their attorney, Lauren M. Serper, formally appealed the City’s determination, which prompted the scheduling of the appeal before the Zoning Board of Adjustment.
